The basics of this custom are something I started putting together quite a few months ago, but I was never satisfied with the results. My desire to keep rethinking the design eventually led me to this final design and the creation of my Moon Elf.
One of the first things I did when I first began creating Mythic Legions customs was to look for new heads that would work with this line. That search quickly led me to Masters of the Universe Classics, which made sense since the 4H were also responsible for those toys. One of the MOTU figures that I acquired early on was Ditztroyer. I liked the fact that he his head was hooded, thinking it would work well for a thief character (a class that was missing from Mythic Legions). Once I had the figure in hand, I realized that the color of his hood and cape were pretty much an exact match for the tunic color on Otho, so I used that body for this custom. Unfortunately, the end product did not really feel very “thief-like” to me, so this toy sat in my workshop for months, taunting me with its lack of progress.
Wanting to finally make use of this figure, I began to look for fantasy races that have blue skin and eventually landed on Moon Elves. The Wiki entry I read for this race detailed them as longing “to be on the road, traveling and exploring the untamed wilderness that lies between cities and nations.” That idea helped me to rethink this custom, turning him from a thief into more of a ranger. The hood and cloak still worked in that design, and I added some green to his eyes since that Wiki page had listed Moon Elves as having that color for their eyes.
To finalize this custom, I knew I needed the right accessories. His bow is from a Lord of the Rings Legolas. His quiver and arrows are also from Lord of the Rings. His sword is from a Marvel Legends figure Loki (the older ToyBiz one). I liked the runes sculpted onto the weapon's blade, imagining them as some kind of ancitent "moon runes" that give the sword a magical quality.
