McConnel Rockkenroll

This figure is part of a series I did mashing up the worlds of GI Joe/Cobra with Mythic Legions. This is my tribute to Rock and Roll.

This is one of the figures I showcased early at the ToyConNJ event. This custom just came together so perfectly for me. In looking for a way to bring Zartan into the Realm of Mythoss, I stumbled upon a Dungeons and Dragons race called “Changelings”. These creatures can “shift their face and form with a thought.” As soon as I read about this race, I knew I had found my Zartan.

Changelings look like elves, but with grey skin, white hair, and eyes. This meant I was using an elf body for my custom, and since I wanted Zartan to have his trademark hood, it was an easy choice to use a Shadow Elf Ranger head here. His body is a normal Elf Ranger with the top of the torso swapped with one from a Goblin Legion Builder. I painted that torso top and his pauldrons to match and I also painted his lower torso and hood brown to match his arms and legs. I then did some dry brushing with a maroonish color to the hood and other parts of his armor to get the well known colors that Zartan is usually shown with onto this figure.

For his heads, I painted the faces grey and added the Zartan facepaint. Since I started with a Shadow Elf Ranger, the unhooded head already had white hair, which was exactly what I needed.

His quiver is from an old Warcraft Night Elf Hunter and his bow is from an Elf Builder. This is probably my favorite of the series!
